The best audio equipment in the world cannot take the place of a concert from your favorite artist. The right online concert tickets site can help you have the experience of a lifetime for a reasonable price. With its sleek design, wide selection and fair pricing, Vivid Seats has earned our TopTenREVIEWS Silver Award.
Pricing is really pretty comparable among concert tickets sites. Vivid Seats tacks on 14 percent to any concert tickets purchase. That’s a little on the high side of average, but their other fees are reasonable, and we think you get your money’s worth in Vivid’s excellent customer service, guarantees and reputation.
Vivid is a secondary marketplace, which means the items listed have all been purchased at least once by the time they are posted on this concert tickets site. That can be a little spooky for some, but Vivid guarantees all its sellers and puts them through a rigorous screening process. And concert ticket resellers can offer some flexibility. You will often find concert tickets for sold-out events on a reseller site, and you can find resold concert tickets backed by a solid guarantee if you use Vivid.
The concerts we tested all told the same story: Concert tickets for dates that were very fast approaching were impossible to find on the primary distributor sites, but Vivid had seats every time we tested it, and for reasonable prices.
Secondary sellers like Vivid can work well for the early birds, too. The site works with a network of brokers that often have season tickets, private seat licenses and annual group packages. They often have tickets for events just as early in the process as any other source.
Vivid Seats has a nice set of features for the ticket buyer and seller. Print tickets yourself, pick them up at will call or have them emailed to you for printing. All of those options cost extra, but that is the case with most of these sites. And there are sites that don’t offer those options at all, free or with a fee.
Selling concert tickets is pretty easy with Vivid Seats. There is no fee to list them but there is a fee to sell them. Vivid takes a 10 percent cut of what the seller makes. That is also a pretty standard procedure among concert tickets sites. It may be well worth the 10 percent to sell concert tickets you cannot use. This site does not accommodate the auctioning of your unwanted tickets, however. If you want to sell them to the highest bidder, you will have to use another site.
Gift cards are available from Vivid Seats, a perfect option for the music lover who has everything. The cards can be used on any shows offered by Vivid, so the recipient of this gift is sure to be thrilled.
None of the sites in our lineup listed every single concert we could think of, but we liked the selection with Vivid Seats. The Concerts tab had an assortment of different types of music – from Linkin Park to Taylor Swift, James Taylor to Lady Gaga. There are listings for alternative, country, hard rock, jazz, new age, pop, rock acts and more. If a show is on its way to your city, you are very likely to find it on Vivid Seats.
Vivid makes it pretty easy to find the concert tickets you want with a well-organized tab system. The concert tickets tab is divided into logical subheadings that highlight popular acts from a wide range of musical traditions. If you want to narrow your search using your area of the country as a reference, simply look at the “Tickets by Region” heading along the left side of the page. One click on your city will organize all of the events in your city and the surrounding area – sporting events, concerts and theatrical productions – into a nice, tidy list. Searching by venue just involves typing a word from the name of the venue into the search window.
Interactive seating charts are available for many, but not all, of the venues. That means you can click on a section of seats and information specific to those seats pops onto your screen. If you click again you get even more information.
We loved the price range slider. It’s a rare feature for this type of site, and we think it is a great idea. The slider means you can indicate what you are willing to pay and the site will only show you the concert tickets in that price range. Additionally, you will only be able to set the slider to available prices for that show. There is no use wasting time trying to filter concert tickets by pricing that does not exist for that event.
Vivid excels in the area of security, with stamps of approval from TRUSTe, the National Association of Ticket Brokers, VeriSign and McAfee SECURE. There is also an “A” rating from the preeminent customer service agency to consider. None of these completely eliminate all potential for mishap, but all of them together lead to a sense of security with the site. At least you know they have gone to some effort to meet the high standards for business conduct and privacy that these organizations promote. Giving credit card information to a faceless website can be a little daunting, after all.
We found the customer support options to be absolutely excellent with Vivid Seats. We think every website should have a live chat option, but it is really not that common. Vivid offers live chat plus support by telephone and email. The Vivid FAQs page is easy to find and easy to use. We like the subheadings. They make it much easier to find the answers to specific questions.
We liked the design of this website and all of the customer creature comforts. Live chat and the many endorsements and privacy certifications give a certain peace of mind. The fees are not the lowest among the sites we examined, but we feel like this concert tickets site actually earns its fees.
The customer service is unbeatable.
The service fee is not the lowest.
This is our favorite of the secondary sellers based on good service and selection.
